This year’s event will take place April 21, 22 and 23, 2017. You’ll find venues all over Downtown Durango, including the historic Henry Strater Theatre, Wild Horse Saloon, Durango Arts Center, and Powerhouse Science Center. This is the 23rd incarnation of the annual event, and the Meltdown is certainly picking up steam as it heads toward its silver anniversary. In the span of just three days, the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown gives you an opportunity to catch both nationally renowned acts and up-and-coming local bands. The lineup includes a host of talented performers, including:

  • Town Mountain
  • David Parmley & Cardinal Tradition
  • Danny Barnes, Grant Gordy and Joe K. Walsh
  • Kathy Kallick Band
  • The Freight Hoppers
  • Jeff Scroggins and Colorado
  • Ragged Union
  • Rapidgrass
  • Savage Hearts
  • Quicksand Soup
  • Colorado College Bluegrass Ensemble
  • Six Dollar String Band
  • The Badly Bent

  • La La Bones
  • Lawn Chair Kings
  • Last Nickel
  • Lost Souls
  • The Blue Moon Ramblers
  • The Clods
  • Chokecherry Jam
  • Fellowship of the Strings
  • Bluegrouse
  • Secondhand Strings
  • The Scrugglers
  • Stillhouse Junkies

The list above isn’t totally inclusive – as pickup pickin’ and jam sessions are known to take place on street corners and beyond during the festival – truly making Durango ring with strings! Additionally, this family-friendly event will give students of all ages a chance to participate in Meltdown: The expansive Bluegrass in the Schools program provides opportunities for young musicians to participate in hands-on workshops, showoff their two-step at a Barn Dance and build an appreciation for this distinctly American genre of music.
