4 Fireworks in Durango - Come join in the fun for all of Durango's 4th of July Events. Starting with a breakfast and 5K at Rotary Park and ending with a Parade at 6:00 pm followed by a street dance on Main Ave. and fireworks at dusk.
5 Backcountry Experience Firecracker Fun Run and 5K - 10:00 am - 3:00 pm Durango Mountain Resort hosts the Backcountry Experience Firecracker Fun Run and 5K. Registration for this free race is 9:00 am - 10:00 am.

13 - Aug 2 Music in the Mountains - world-renowned musicians enchant audiences in spectacular venues throughout southwestern Colorado.
11 - 13 Gem and Mineral Show - 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at La Plata County Fairgrounds. Vendor booths, silent auction, raffle, mineral displays, and activities for children.
12 Duranglers Fly Fishing Clinic - The class covers the feeding habits of trout, how flies imitate the bugs that trout eat, essential knots, rigging your rod, and how to cast a fly rod. The class is taught by Glenn Tinnin, a certified FFF Fly Casting Instructor and veteran guide. The cost is $125. Space is limited, so please call our shop at (970)385-4081.
12 Whitewater Rafts & Brewery Crafts - Enjoy a day on the river and an evening out in Durango. Join Mild to Wild Rafting & Jeep Trail Tours for a day of Colorado rafting, then venture with Mild to Wild to three of Durango’s thirst-quenching craft breweries for a tour and taste of the trade. After we conquer the river, we’ll pick you up from your hotel and venture, via bus, to 3 of Durango’s 4 choice breweries for a tour/tasting event. 14 - 16 Stand-up Paddleboarding - Stand-up Paddle Boarding is one of the newest and fastest growing ways to enjoy Durango’s waterways! This new craze offers a great core workout while you are having fun! No experience is necessary. We provide all necessary equipment. Ages 9 and up. Instructional Clinic: $99 Adults $69 Children July 14-16 • 5-7pm Rental: $30 per day for 1/2 day, $45 for full day

24 - 27 Durango Fiesta Days - Durango comes together to celebrate Spanish and Native American history and ranching heritage with rodeos, a downtown parade, barrel races, chuck wagon cook-off, pancake breakfast, and much more. All events are held at the Durango Fairgrounds (except for the BarBQ/Pie Auction/Street Dance).

Open Class Fair Entry Forms will be available on July 1, 2014 for the following: Beef, Bucket Calf, Swine, Sheep, Goat, Poultry, and Rabbit. Do you want to be a Vendor at the La Plata County Fair? Contracts will be available in March 2014 for the following: Concession Booth Contract or Non-Food Contract. The full fair schedule will be available in June 2014. 14 - 17 Railfest - The annual Durango Railfest event showcases western-style cowboy events such as the World Fast Draw Association shoot-out and competition, Native American Dancers and Heritage Train with the Southern Ute Tribe from Ignacio in addition to special events and train rides throughout the weekend. All events pay tribute to Durango’s railroading legacy.

20 The Assortment - 2014 Summer Concert Series, Rochester Hotel Secret Garden 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm. The Rochester Secret Garden is a lush, beautiful, intimate setting for the summer concert series, special events and celebrations.
22 - 23 Durango Blues Train - May 30 & 31 and August 22 & 23, 2014. An exciting 3.5 hour moving musical experience providing two consecutive evenings of live blues. NEW FOR 2014 - each night will feature a different group of musicians. You will travel on the Historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad’s coal-fired, steam-powered train through the spectacular and breathtaking canyons of the San Juan National Forest. The event features six live blues performances (2 bands and 4 solo/duo artists) in six rail cars with a festive musical environment that promises an amazing experience.
Each artist performs in their own vintage coach, while passengers are to free to dance their way from coach to coach and delight in a variety of musical performances.

23 San Juan Brewfest - Held in downtown Durango on Main Ave. between 12th and 13th Streets. Sponsored by Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort, this event benefits United Way of Southwest Colorado.
27 Carute Roma - 2014 Summer Concert Series, Rochester Hotel Secret Garden 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm. The Rochester Secret Garden is a lush, beautiful, intimate setting for the summer concert series, special events and celebrations.
28 - Sep 1 Four Corners Motorcycle Rally™ - Ignacio Bike Week™ and the Four Corners Biker Rally have joined together to bring you a bigger and better rally, the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally™. The Four Corners Motorcycle Rally happens all over the Four Corners throughout Labor Day weekend. The Million Dollar Highway through Durango is voted one of the top four motorcycle rides in the country. Durango Harley-Davidson features the Harley demo fleet. There will also be a beer tent with live music and food during the daytime from Friday–Sunday. Motorcycle enthusiasts participate in events which take place throughout the region: Sky Ute Casino, Durango, Cortez, Silverton, Ignacio and all points in between.
29 - 31 4th Annual Matriarch Gathering - Two days of empowerment, community & phenomenal opportunities for growth. 6 Animas City Day - Activities for Animas City Day will take place at the Animas Museum and around the area north of Durango that was Animas City. Also that day the museum will host the Animas City School Reunion for former students who attended school in the building that now houses the museum. If you, or someone you know, attended the Animas City School in the two-story stone building, please be sure the La Plata County Historical Society has your contact information so we can send your invitation to this special gathering.00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at La Plata County Fairgrounds.
6 - 7 Whole Expo - The Holistic Health and Ecological Conference & Exposition. Saturday 10:00 am - 7:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at La Plata County Fairgrounds.
10 Ace Level - 2014 Summer Concert Series, Rochester Hotel Secret Garden 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm. The Rochester Secret Garden is a lush, beautiful, intimate setting for the summer concert series, special events and celebrations.
13 Wetherill Mesa Bike and Hike - You are invited to participate in this year’s Wetherill Mesa Bike and Hike. The fall is a special time of year to visit as the more relaxing fall season replaces the busy days of summer. The Wetherill Tram is not running so you are invited to ride your bike on the tram road and hike to Long House and Step House cliff dwellings. Rangers are available to answer your questions. Wetherill Mesa will be open 9:00 am to 4:00 pm both days at Mesa Verde National Park.

20 -21 Autumn Arts Festival - A juried arts and crafts festival on 2nd Ave between 6th and 9th St. Free to the public. 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Open until 6:00 pm on Saturday.
24 The Cannondolls - 2014 Summer Concert Series, Rochester Hotel Secret Garden 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm. The Rochester Secret Garden is a lush, beautiful, intimate setting for the summer concert series, special events and celebrations.
27 Wetherill Mesa Bike and Hike - You are invited to participate in this year’s Wetherill Mesa Bike and Hike. 2 - 5 Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering - A celebration of the rich culture and heritage of the American cowboy. The Gathering is an exciting, fun-filled event with evening performances and Saturday daytime sessions. Poets and musicians from throughout the country grace our intimate stage at The Strater Theater, performing classic and contemporary poems and songs that will bring tears to your eyes and keep you in stitches.
4 - 5 Durango Apple Days - A celebration of all things apple. Enjoy a Pie Eating Contest + food and games for the whole family at Buckley Park in downtown Durango.
10 - 12 Durango Heritage Celebration - A series of events honoring Durango's Victorian and Old West Past. You'll find that a large number of event goers will be dressed in authentic period attire throughout the celebration. We encourage everyone to join in the fun by donning your Victorian, Edwardian or Old West finery for any of our events.
11 - 12 Durango Double - Do this entire marathon, a half marathon, or a trail run. 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. The Durango Double, presented by Animas Surgical Hospital, is a non-profit running event benefiting the Women’s Resource Center, an organization advocating for the personal empowerment and economic self-sufficiency of women and girls in La Plata County.

7 Mountainfilm on Tour- Mountainfilm fills Durango with inspiring thinkers and doers. In addition to showcasing leading independent films and filmmakers, the festival now includes symposia and panels, gallery exhibits of art and photography, book-signings, breakfast talks, student programs, music and street parties. Films show at Durango Nature Studies.
8 What a Girl Wants - 11:00 am to 4:00 pm expo at LaPlata County Fairgrounds.
27 Turkey Trot - 5-mile race and 1-mile fun run along a scenic course around Fort Lewis College. 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Registration at 9:00 am. 1:00 pm awards ceremony at the clock tower.
27 Community Thanksgiving Dinner - 12:00 NOON - 2:00 pm at LaPlata County Fairgrounds. Everyone is welcome.
December 2014
5 Noel Night - A special shopping night throughout downtown Durango's unique shops while you enjoy refreshments, caroling, free gift wrapping, entertainers, music, and a visit from Santa Claus. Be sure to visit the Welcome Center at 8th Street. and Main Ave.
5 - 7 Festival of Trees - Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Train Museum hosts Festival of Trees 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Enjoy beautiful decorated trees and wreaths + a silent auction. Enter a drawing for a chance to win a prize package valued at $400.
7 Holiday Craft Bazaar - 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at the Animas Museum. The solution to all of your gift giving dilemnas will be under one roof as area artists and crafters offer their best wares for sale. From jewelry to baked goods, there is sure to be something for everyone.
12 Durango Winter Sports Foundation Snow Soiree - Durango’s premier winter celebration party you don’t want to miss! Festive formal gala to benefit the athletes of the Alpine, Freestyle, Free Ride, Nordic and Snowboard Teams. Presenting sponsor Durango Mountain Resort. Reconnect with old friends and meet new ones as we kick off the season with a celebration of winter.
