The music scene in Durango thrives on the weekends, with venues dotting the downtown and surrounding city streets. On any given weekend, and occasionally weeknight, music lovers can hear an eclectic sampling of live tunes, ranging from blues, jazz, rock, bluegrass, classical instrumental, even cowboy ballads!

Scoot N’ Blues (970-259-1400) is nestled in the heart of downtown Durango on 900 Main Avenue. This blues and jazz lounge thrives with different music offerings almost every night of the week. On the main stage, catch the best in classic rock and blues performances; if you prefer to chill out, take a stroll downstairs to the Sidecar Jazz Lounge for smooth sounds.

The Summit (970-247-2324), situated on 600 Main Avenue, brings highly acclaimed local and national live music to downtown Durango. Musical representation includes DJs, Punk, Jam bands, Rock, Hip-Hop and more. The Summit’s frequented wooden dance floor, wild lights, and “killer” sound system are sure to provide a fun night of live music and dancing.

The Office Spiritorium (877-204-0164) on 699 Main Avenue features live entertainment on select evenings in a cozy, smoke-free environment.

     
   

Durango Theater

The Abbey Theatre (970-385-1711) on 128 E. College Drive is a quaint n’ cozy, independent theater that provides entertainment seekers with a wide assortment of film and live music from the Four Corners region and beyond.

     
   

Durango Concerts

Community Concert Hall (970-247-7657) at Ft. Lewis College is a 612-seat establishment, characterized by a Carnegie Hall inspired acoustic design. The Concert Hall has been the setting to a myriad of different musical performances, from pianist and winner of the Tchaikovsky Music Award, Barry Douglas; cowboy artist Ian Thompson; and members of the Central City Opera company, among others.

The Durango Art Center (970-259-2606) is located on 802 East 2nd Avenue in Durango’s downtown area. The 250-seat theatre houses many concerts, and the DAC supports annual music festivals like the 11-day classical Music in the Mountains at Durango Mountain Resort, the spring Bluegrass Meltdown, and the annual Christmas Concert delivered by the Durango Choral Society ensemble.

The Diamond Belle Saloon (970-375-7150), 699 Main Avenue, offers live music every evening, and is one venue used for the annual Durango Cowboy Gathering. Said to have been a famous ragtime piano bar in the Old West, today the saloon presents modern-day ragtime entertainment, with costumed can-can girls to boot.

Ska Brewing Company (970-247-5792), named for the ska music genre, is located at 545 Turner Drive in Durango. Ska is a combination of Jamaican island beats and American jazz and R&B, in case you have not heard. The Ska Brewing Company jams out with live music from local bands on choice nights and also assists in the lineup for the annual Durango Oktoberfest. The best of ska can be heard here.

The Mahogany Grille (970-247-4433) on 699 Main Avenue in downtown Durango is pleased to deliver nightly entertainment, featuring local sensations Jeff Sweet, Gary B. Walker, Lacey Black, and many more. The atmosphere is chic, and the music is jazz.

8th Avenue Tavern (970-259-8801) is located in downtown Durango on 509 E. 8th Avenue. From karaoke nights, to bluegrass, to country and rock, the 8 th Avenue Tavern serves up a nice variety of live music year-round.
