The Strater is known as Durango’s living history museum. Built in the Victorian Era, it boasts a unique story of rivalries, hardships and triumphs that have made it into the iconic sight it is today. It holds true to it’s time, with modern amenities to back up the beautiful design and authentic furniture and decorations.
The General Palmer is another authentic Victorian landmark within the city, which got it’s name from General William Jackson Palmer, the Civil War general who built the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge.
