Animas City Park
Located on the north side of town, Animas City Park is one of the most popular parks in Durango. It features a nice and shady small playground with a slide play structure and swings for kids of all ages. It's quiet, quaint park great for younger kids. There is a pavillion with picnic tables at the park as well so you can rest while your kids play. It is adjacent to the Animas City Trail.
The 1.6 acre Buckley Park is a local favorite and offers many features including bench seating, a rock garden, and a large grassy area. This park also hosts annual events throughout the year like summer movies in the park and the very popular San Juan Brewfest in August. The park is named after Durango's first mayor, William Buckley, who took pride in improving the city's infrastructure when he was mayor in the early 1880s.
Santa Rita Park
Santa Rita Park has many outdoor activities including tennis and pickleball courts, volleyball nets and a playground area complete with slides, swings and more. This park has a lot of cool features like picnic areas where families can sit together and enjoy the day. It also offers plenty of shade trees throughout which makes it perfect for those hot summer days when you just want to cool off at one of these great Durango parks.
