Fall Photographer’s Special

September 20-22, 2019

Amateur and professional photographers are invited to take part in the Fall Photographer’s Special each year. This event brings photographers on a train ride with predetermined stops along the way. Photographers will deboard the train and it will back up out of sight and return to pass the group for photo opportunities. The fall colors lighting up the San Juan Mountains make for a picture perfect excursion.

September 28, 2019

One of Durango’s most popular train experiences is the Brew Train. While they are now offered in both the summer and fall months, the fall train excursions sell out very quickly after tickets are released. There is nothing quite like sipping a Colorado craft beer while watching the fall colors zip by.

September 29, 2019

During the month of September, the Durango Train offers a wine experience on the rails. Event attendees will travel to Cascade Canyon. On the way, sample wines and learn from local wineries. When you arrive, the fun will continue with more tastings, a Mediterranean luncheon, music, games and more. This event is for adults over the age of 21.

Pumpkin Patch Express

October 5-20, 2019

The Durango Train’s Pumpkin Patch Express is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon in Durango. This family-friendly experience takes you on a fun ride themed to match the classic “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” story. When you arrive at the pumpkin patch, the whole family can enjoy live entertainment, a reading of the story, trick-or-treating for kids and more.

Cowboy Poetry Train

October 4, 2019

The Cowboy Poetry Train is one of the most special parts of the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering each year. The train takes cowboys and cowgirls from Durango to Cascade Canyon. On board, riders will hear a wide variety of poems and songs that will make you laugh and cry, and have you wishing it could last forever. Every coach has performers and when you stop for lunch at Cascade Canyon the performances will continue.
