*UPDATE: Due to CDC recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is suspending service. The DSNGRR will be annulling spring excursions and event trains effective March 18th, 2020 and will remain closed through April 1st, 2020 or until further notice.

"During this time, our museum will remain open until further notice between 10:00AM and 4:00PM, with a requested donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children. In addition, we will continue offering yard tours for $15 per person, and our convenience store and gift shop will remain open seven days a week from 9:00AM to 4:00PM."

"Guests who currently hold reservations will be notified and will receive a full refund, or they can also rebook for later in the season. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your understanding and patience during this challenging time."

The summer schedule for the Durango to Silverton train offers daily round trip service with the option to ride back on the train that afternoon or upgrade to a bus return for a scenic drive over the San Juan Skyway. Summer Skyway Tour

May - October

One of the Durango train's most tried and true popular trips is the Skyway Tour, which you can book between early May and late October. This gloriously scenic train ride covers 52 miles of the San Juan Byway. You can do a roundtrip on the train or choose to ride a bus to or from Silverton. Summer is a great time to take in the colorful views of the mountains.

May - August

Wilderness Access

The train offers a unique experience on a motor car ride from May through October. This car takes you along the rails with a veteran crewmember so you can experience a typical afternoon of maintaining the rails and communicating with the train returning from Silverton. The views along the highline are unlike any other, and you'll get some great photos.

Narrow Gauge Day

May 1, 2020

Kick off the summer train season with Narrow Gauge Day (also known as Hot Dog Day) at the Durango Train Museum. This annual event in May features live music and a free picnic at tge museum for all attendees. Learn all about the history of southwestern Colorado's beautiful high country and the steam locomotives that have been carrying passengers through the San Juan mountains since 1882.

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic

May 22-24, 2020

While this is not your typical Durango train event, the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic is one of Colorado’s most renowned events of the year, and one of the biggest races in the world of cycling. It's a battle of man versus machine as cyclists race the Durango train across 50 miles of breathtaking San Juan scenery. Watch it unfold for its 48th year this Memorial Day weekend.

Durango Blues Train

2020 Dates To Be Announced

This biannual event consists of four nights of bluesy entertainment aboard the Durango Silverton train; two nights to kick off the summer, and two nights at the end. Hundreds of Colorado visitors enjoy the Durango Blues Train for its lively music paired with tasty craft brews. Lineups are announced two to three months in advance.
