The popular Skijoring race will be returning to Silverton in February of 2019. As one of the most popular winter events in the area, skijoring draws thousands each year. Visitors watch as skiers, who are holding onto ropes attached to a horse, are pulled through gates and jumps on Blair Street.
There will be normal skijoring races, as well as a “Fat Boy” exhibition for older and slower skiers, horses and riders. In addition to the normal events, there will be activities, food and shopping available all around town. The event is free to spectators, but donations are always welcome.
Early registration will take place on Friday February 15th from 6 to 8 pm at the Grand Imperial Hotel. Horses and Skiers may register separately and be matched at registration, or can sign up as a team. Same day registration will take place from 7:30 to 9 am at the Sage Hen Cafe.
