The 42nd annual Snowdown will bring Rock N' Roll lovers from all over the world to Durango to jam. Dress up as your favorite Rock N' Roll musician this year for the many exciting events and activities taking place around town.
Snowdown is a non-profit created to promote Fun, Commerce & Tourism in Durango. It is the original "Cabin Fever Reliever". Outside Magazine rated Snowdown as one of the top 5 winter festivals in the US.Snowdown Facebook

Sun, Jan. 26 at 12:30: Snowdown Opening Ceremony at Purgatory Resort. Come out to start off Snowdown 2020 with the first annual pre-party opening ceremony. DJ Cody will kick off the celebration at 12:30 before a Ski Parade heads down the hill to pass the Snowdown torch from 2019 to now. Come in costume and join the parade.
Happening All Week
All Week Snowdown Theme Contest at Magpie's Newstand Café. Submit your best Snowdown theme idea for 2022 by February 2rd at noon. Make sure it is original, and not redundant or obscene.
All Week Twisted System at Conundrum Escape Rooms. Prove that you are Durango's smartest by solving an enigma of exceptionally difficult proportions. You'll work alone to conquer the challenge and win the coveted title of Durango's Top Puzzler.
All Week Snowdown Search For The Silver Bullet in La Plata County. Use the daily clues provided and the first to find the Silver Bullet to win $250 in prizes.
All Week Build A Bong Contest at Prohibition Herb. Build the most creative bong you can think of with any materials you can imagine. Your bong can be dropped off Wednesday January 29th through Saturday February 1st for judging on Sunday February 2nd.

Wed, Jan 29: Swingin' Rollin' Parent Lego March at 11th Street Station at 4 PM. Join other parents in the test to see who is the most rockin' Mom or Dad with the ultimate test: walking across a medley of lego pieces barefoot.

Thu, Jan 30:3-on-3 Sports Chair Basketball at FLC Life Center Basketball Courts at 6 PM. 1st Annual 3-on-3 Sports chair tournament open to people of all abilities. This is a fundraiser for Tribal Adaptive Organization, a non-profit created by Durango local Noah Blue Elk Hotchkiss whose mission is to use sports as a tool to improve the health and well_ness of Native Americans. All participants can attend a free skills clinic prior to the event to get experience with the sports chairs.

Sat, Feb 1: Make Your Own French Toast Relay at the Animas River Lounge at the DoubleTree at 10 AM. Teams of 2 will compete in a speed race: make french toast, and then eat it without hands.
Sat, Feb 1: Strongman & Strongwoman Competition at CrossFit Durango at 10 AM. All levels and abilities are able to compete in yoke carries, atlas stones, axle lifts and other games.
Sat, Feb 1: Bomber Bowling at Rocky Mountain High at 10:30 AM. In teams of 2-4 people, one person on snow equipment will be jettisoned via team power towards bowling pins, traffic cones, on the other side of the RMH parking lot. Teams will be given points according to how many pins are knocked down, with two top teams receiving prizes.
Sat, Feb 1: Rockin' Preschool Dance Party at the Durango Public Library at 10:30 AM. Children and their families are invited to come boogie down to their favorite tunes all morning long at the library. Come dressed as your inner rock star ready to dance and giggle. Ages 2-6.
Sat, Feb 1: PBS Kids Saturday Morning Cartoons at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Admin Building at 11 AM. Rocky Mountain PBS will host a screening of exciting be-bop content from PBS Kids that children and families can enjoy before the chili cook-off. Volunteers will be involved to make this a fun and engaging, family friendly event.

Sat, Feb 1: Snowdown 9 Ball Tournament at the Garage at 11 AM. The 24rd year of a double elimination, 64 player bracket will be taking place this year.
Sat, Feb 1: Fly Fishing Casting Contest at Schneider Park at 11 AM. Enter this test of precision and distance.
Sat, Feb 1: Rock This Way at Buckley Park. Great fun and hilarity for kids, especially if there is snow or mud! A dirty deeds course over which participants riff obstacles to be climbed, crawled under, crossed, or otherwise negotiated to get through the finish line. Ages 5-18.
Sat, Feb 1: Outlaw Josie Pete Golf Tournament at Main Mall Commons at 12 PM. Golfing in Downtown Durango! Costumes and golf make this a "don't miss" Snowdown favorite. Whether you're playing or being part of the rowdy gallery, it is a guaranteed fun time. Each hole is located in a different downtown establishment and created by some of the hottest course designers in Durango. Sat, Feb 1: Roots to Ranches Screening and Panel at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Admin Building at 1:30 PM. RMPBS will be hosting a premiere screening of Roots to Ranches, a new cooking show on PBS hosted by Southern raised, Denver-based chef Elise Wiggens. Directly following the screening there will be a panel discussion celebrating the influences of ranching, hunting, and foraging in home cuisine and local food culture, including information from La Plata County extension and other community partners on how home cooks can turn their hobbies into cottage-food businesses in the Western Slope.
Sat, Feb 1: Battle of the Bands Text Off at The Mac Ranch at 2 PM. Participants will put their texting skills to the test with various challenges including an epic Journey through an obstacle course, blindfolded on the Dark Side of the Moon, and more. Bring your whole Motley Crue down to The Mac Ranch, along with your smartphones, and you'll be judged on speed and accuracy, as well as your knowledge of text speak - such as TD2M - 'Talk Dirty To Me' and 'You Are a Star.'
